It's fair to want to know who is on the other end. Here is everything I would want to know in your place.
Who I am
I'm Cynthia. I'm a mother to a big, full household, some of my children by birth and some by adoption. I know what it is to be the person everyone calls when something goes wrong, and how strange it feels when nobody asks what you need. The Long Letter grew out of that.
I write every letter myself. Nobody else reads or answers your letters, and nothing is written by a machine and signed with my name.

What it is, and what it isn't
You write to me about your life, and I write back, to you by name, about what you actually said. Letters are shaped around your season, and you can keep them on your own private page or have them arrive by mail, typed on my typewriter.
It is not therapy, counseling, legal advice or a crisis service. When you need more than a letter, I'll point you toward people who can help, and numbers to call are always here.
your safety
How you are kept safe
- You never need to give me a home address. A PO box or mail service works, and plain envelopes are always available.
- I don't confirm to anyone that you write to me. Not family, not an ex, not anyone who asks.
- Your words are never published without your specific written permission.
- Card payments go straight to Stripe. I never see or hold card details.
- Every page has a Quick exit button, top right.
