The Long Letter

shelters, programs, and people who serve mothers

For organizations

Bring letters to the women you serve: a real person writing back, every month, to each of them by name.

A free pilot

Fifteen of the women you serve, ninety days of letters, at no cost to you. You get a resource page with your name on it, and a short report at the end on engagement and wellbeing, measured with the WHO-5 Well-Being Index, written to go straight into a funder report.

how women are kept safe

Safety comes first

  • No one needs to give a home address. Plain envelopes are always available.
  • I never share a name, address or email with a partner or sponsor.
  • Words are never published without a woman's specific written permission.
  • I keep a written protocol for when a letter describes danger, and send it to every organization before we begin.
  • A background check is available if your program requires one.

other ways

Collaborations and sponsorship

Writing in each other's space, offering an hour of what you do to the women in a season, or making something together. See every way to work together.
